I read an article recently in an old Bassin magazine. In stead of hand tieing on spinnerbaits all the time, because if you use a snap it will ride up onto the blades. Cut a small peice of plastic tube (the kind you use to hold your keeper hooks on ) slide the smal peice over the eye of the spinnerbait and stick your snap through the tube. Then if you want to change colores of spinnerbaits your not retieing all the time.

That is not bad!! I like that. I always worry about snaps breaking though, but a good idea!

My opinion only! I like to retie my knots to make sure they will hold-up on my next fish. But its a very practical idea.

I don't like snaps in general but if you use them thats definitely the way to go! Thanks. Great for kids also who as you may know always want to change baits and colors and cut into daddys fishin time.LOL

Many years ago I used those Norman Speed Clips for all my crankbaits and topwaters. One day I was fishing a tournament on Cane River here in La, when I hooked what easily was a 7 pounder on a chug bug. The fight was on! I played her out for a few minutes cause she had already thrown the front treble on her first few jumps ( even though I tried to keep her down). I got her right at the boat as my co-angler was reaching for her with the net when she thrashed her head one last time. The line goes limp and I watch her swim off with my chug bug. I was under the impression that she just broke the line, but to my amazement, I looked at the end of my line and there was the Speed Clip, still in tact. At that same moment, she leaps out of the water thrashing her head, and finally detatches herself from my chug bug. I lost that tournament by 2 lbs, 3 oz.. It may have been a fluke incident, because I had caught many good fish using them before with no problem, but I have never used them again after that.

Hence, when using snaps the right idea to use it in conjunction with a swivel. It makes the difference with a thrashing fish. As it seems to buffer against line twist. It does promote spinnerbaits to roll onto it's side more.

That is a great idea if you use snaps, but after loosing a 5+lber and a luckycraft pointer in february, i started tying and re-tying my baits to my main line, especially in tourneys. I just happen to trust my knots more than my snaps, however if you have good faith in ur snaps, then this is the best idea ive heard for spinnerbaits.

I like the idea! I still prefer to retie my knots. Spend time learning to tie faster, an better knots, b/c you never know when a big one is going to bite. You wanna be ready when it does happens!

I never use a snap. The idea is great for those who just can't retie all the time but I can retie any knot at all in less then 60 seconds in the dark. That is really what I suggest you do. learn to just retie better. lol
