FPT set to deliver an exciting 2010 season - PLUS an unprecedented $85,000 Classic Championship
SACRAMENTO, Ca. - One thing Northern California’s amateur anglers can be sure of is that the Thunder Valley Outdoors/Future Pro Tour, now entering its eighth season, will never compromise on trying to deliver the best tournament experience possible to those that want to build their bass fishing skills. And as the winter slowly loses its grip, and the memory of Jim Moulton and Jeff Auxier’s dynamic 2009 FPT Classic Championship victory is gradually replaced by the excitement and anticipation of a new season, the Future Pro Tour stands ready to deliver a 2010 program that is for sure to be the best ever.
Premier sponsors will re-join the tour in 2010, providing Future Pro Tour anglers even greater opportunities to win larger cash prizes and more incentive bonuses than ever before. At the same time, the FPT will continue to keep as a priority, its mission to provide an affordable place for amateur level anglers to increase their bass fishing knowledge through a series of organized, in-depth, how-to seminars given by the west’s top bass professionals, scheduled throughout the year at all FPT pre-event registrations and selected sponsor sites.
Increased television coverage on Comcast Sports TV beginning with the March 27th season opener at Lake Berryessa, as well as the taping of several pre-fish shows featuring the west’s top bass professionals to help you prepare for upcoming events. One of these shows will be the "Dobyns Rods - Gary vs Richard Showdown" where this father and son duo will both technically "breakdown" a lake the FPT will visit and we will all FINALLY see if the student can school the teacher!
Angler of the year bonuses as well as limited sponsorships from top manufacturers will be back again for 2010 giving those that desire to someday take their game to the next level, an introduction into the world of product promotion.
And speaking of sponsors... joining the Future Pro Tour's current family of premier partners for the 2010 season will be:
Tracy Toyota – The west’s premier Toyota dealership who pride themselves in delivering unparalled customer service, will be offering a 2010 Toyota Tundra as part of this year’s lucrative FPT Classic prize package. Tracy Toyota will also offer its exclusive “Big Bass Bounty” program, where qualifying big fish winners at selected FPT events can win $500 cash money for their monster bass!
Dobyns Rods – Will be on board to provide you with the opportunity to perhaps own one of the finest rods on the market. A Dobyns Rod will be awarded to the BIG FISH winner of each event – in both regions, with the overall big fish winner for the year receiving the Dobyns Rods “When Fishing IS More than A Hobby” trophy, along with a new Humminbird Fish Finder!
Cocoons Eyewear – The leading manufacturer of optical grade sun wear that can be worn over prescription eyewear will come on board to provide our anglers with a multitude of eyewear options that are sure to help increase your productivity during competition. Cocoons will be sponsoring our “Champions Choice” award where you can win a pair of premium Cocoons eyewear at each event!
The NEW Fish Sniffer – The west’s most informative and comprehensive all-species publication who will provide anglers with exciting recaps, photos, and standings from many FPT events held in 2010.
Added Features for 2010
• A more efficient check-in/weigh-in system, as our 20 foot event trailer is being fitted with an electronic leader board, and much more efficient aerated weigh tubs, to help better manage our events and improve on our fish handling processes. A new and automated weigh-slip process will be installed to help us provide anglers with printed results and points standings - before they leave the event.
• At the ramp support truck courtesy of Out-Of-Bounds Speed and Marine, who will provide assistance and help you resolve any mechanical issues you may have BEFORE the tournament begins. During competition, West Marine will provide on-the-water angler support to assist anyone that breaks down or becomes stranded on the water.
• “Piranha Propellers – Small Boat Division” – The same great fun can be had for those sporting smaller boats and engines, with an added bonus package valued at over $1,500 and provided by Piranha Propellers (the title sponsor of this division) called the “Ultimate Rigging Package” which will be awarded to the small boat division Anglers of the Year!
This package includes:

Paybacks for 2010
As we have for the past 2 seasons, payout checks will be dispersed after each event, and our payout has been designed to ensure that if you earn a check, you will always double your basic entry fee! We are the only organization that provides a sample payback matrix right on our website, so that you will have a pretty good idea of what kind of money you can expect if you make the cut! This matrix makes the math simple as you will find that on a 200 boat field the payout is a PURE 80%.
Additional Incentive/Bonus Awards for 2010
For 2010 the Future Pro Tour will offer a comprehensive bonus program designed to help you add to your “take home pay” after fishing FPT events.
Some of these bonus programs for 2010 are:

Participants in this program will have the opportunity to compete against each other for the prestigious NAVIONICS Cup title, and win a limited sponsor package (worth over $2,000) like none other offered in amateur-level bass fishing.
Ranger Cup cash will be available at Future Pro Tour events, so if you own a Ranger – of any year and model, and sign up for Ranger Cup, and you may earn extra cash for your angling prowess and being part of the Ranger family.
ABU Garcia* “Fish of A Lifetime” award – Where the angler who catches the biggest fish of the event – that owns a REVO model reel, will receive an ABU Garcia REVO model reel.
Our exclusive “Future Future Pro” Division will be back again in 2010 featuring a special trophy for the highest finishing team with an angler 16 years or younger, and participation trophies for all kids that enter – in both regions.
In addition, SKIP’S Music, recipient of the prestigious 2007 Musical Retailer of the Year award (an international award) will provide “concert grade” sound systems for our events, and again host the “Rock N Rods” program that helps introduce our angling youth to the world of music. At the end of the year, a drawing will be held where all youth will have a chance to win a musical instrument package of their choice – worth over $1,500 – just for fishing a Future Pro Tour event!
Adding to this package….all youth participating in FPT events will also be entered into a drawing to win a Mini ATV Quad presented by Trucksmart of Rocklin, and The Hook, Line, and Sinker in Oakley.
