I fished a few tournaments in that trail two years ago, there are some VERY good sticks that compete in it! In the spring and postspawn you will need 23lbs to win and you might not be cashing a check with a 20lb limit. In the summer there is always someone who has a high teen or low 20's bag but generally the weights are lower by then. It's very well run and a lot of fun! | |

AMERICAN HEROES BIG BASS CLASH 2011
TEAMS AND GENERAL RULES:
Teams will comprise of no more than 2 individuals per boat. Except for emergencies, team members are not allowed to leave the boat for any reason to include accessing fishable water. In the case of a boat break down you can switch boats as long as the Tournament director is made aware of the switch and the boat is launched and inspected at Sturgeon Creek Marina by director.
TACKLE AND LICENSE:
All anglers will posses a valid VA Fishing License. All fish will be caught by using rod and reel and only artificial baits will be used. No fishing rod longer than 8 feet in length will be allowed.
FISH MANAGEMENT:
Only Black Bass can be weighed in. Fish must be alive, No dead fish will be weighed in. Only one fish will be allowed to be kept in the live well at a time. Tournament Director has the final say in any and all situations where rules are involved. All decisions are final
LAUNCH:
All anglers must launch from Sturgeon Creek Marina. All weigh-ins will be held at Sturgeon Creek Marina. All boats will be assigned a number at the time of registration and the launch order will be randomly chosen the morning of the event by number draw. At 50+ boats a 2nd flight will be assigned and weigh in times for those flight will be separated by 15 mins.
Example: 1st flight - 9:00- 9:15 2nd flight - 9:30- 9:45
BOAT EQUIPMENT AND INSPECTION:
All boats will be required to have a working live well, navigation lights, and trolling motor. All boats will be inspected prior to blast off. NOTE: All compartments will be inspected, including battery compartment and rod boxes. Weigh-in cards will be signed by inspector and must be presented at weigh in. Loss of weigh-in card will disqualify that team from the event.
SPORTSMANSHIP:
All anglers will be required to use good sportsmanship. No electronic device, cell phone, two way radio, CB will be used by the anglers for the purpose of locating fish. No hole setting by participants or non participants will be allowed. No angler will fish within 25 yards of any other angler with the exception of docks. Docks must be agreed on by both boats or without an agreement first come first fish rules apply. You can win as many times as you like. All winners will be subject to a polygraph.
SAFETY:
All boats must be in safe working order. All anglers must operate their boat in a safe manner at all times during the event. Any angler not abiding by this rule will be disqualified at the directors discretion. Protest must be filled no later than 15 minutes after final last call for fish. All anglers will wear PFD, Coast Guard approved while in motion.
WEIGH-IN / TIMES:
1st - 9:00 - 9:15 2nd - 11:00 - 11:15 3rd - 1:00 - 1:15 4th - 3:00 - 3:15 Any angler not in weigh in line by 1st quarter after the hour will not be allowed to weigh in fish for that hour. Once in line the angler must stay in line and weigh the fish or forfeit the fish to the tournament director. Fish become property of Tournament Director at weigh in and will be held until end of the event. Only one fish per boat will be allowed per weigh in. In the case of a tie in weight. It will go by length to break the tie, if length is a tie as well it will go by first to pay entry fee.
PAY OUTS AND FEES:
Entry fee will be $150.00
Entry fees will be divided by approximately 67%
For example: 25 boats $500.00 per 2 hour block NOT BAD (blocks are 9:00-11:00-1:00-3:00) and $500.00 for Big fish Giving back $2500.00
BETTER 50 boats $1000.00 per two hour block $1000.00 Big fish Giving back $5000.00
ALWSOME 75 boats $ 1500.00 per two hour block $1500 Big fish Giving back $7500.00
WOW! 100 boats $ 2000 per two hour black $2000 Big fish Giving back $10,000.00
ALL REMAING PROCEEDS WILL GO TO SUPPORT WOUNDED WARRIOR HEROES EVENTS. | |
