Anyone been out recently on Gaston? I have a tournament there next Friday/Saturday and will be going up Wed. night to prefish Thursday. We launch out of the back of Pea Hill at the Lake Gaston Resort. Two years ago I finished second on this lake by burning shallow cranks in 3-5 feet of water and carolina rigging secondary points in Pea Hill. Last year I couldn't get a bite on a crankbait and the carolina rig bite was hot in practice and completely died on tournament day, I ended up with 2 fish each day mostly caught on slider head worms skipped under docks although I did find some bass starting to bed but they were not locked on.
The weather has been nice up there for the past two weeks and looks to stay nice. I am thinking they will be on beds. Has anyone been out there recently? If I am looking for prespawn fish would I be better off fishing the southern creeks (which I have never fished)? Are there any other creeks besides Pea Hill and Lizard that I should be hitting? Any info would be appreciated.

Unfortunately the lower unit replacement on my boat has been delayed so I won't be going to Gaston after all.
