Hey guys, Today i fished a tube for the first time.  I know, i know , Why have i never fished them before.lol Any way Tom Wolverton has been drilling me with the tube thing for the last 3-4 months "you gotta throw them smallies crush them" is all ive been hearing for months but ive been hooked on theDirty jig with succsess, so why put it down.lol  I put it down today. Tom happend to call me as i was loading my boat, he was talking tubes and i mention to him that a man at the pond the weekend before was also talk to me about tubes ,he gave me a few rigged up and in exchange i gave him a TBC card. hopefuly he joins.sounds like he knows what he talking about because Tom tells me the same thing about the tubes .anyway while talking to Tom i tie the tube on. we shoot the sh*t for a few then i start fishing......1...2..3.4.5 its on fire!!!!!! Tom calls me back a couple hours later and asks me how the tube is working out for me . by then i had 10 bass. hes says i told you so, if you would only listen to me you could be catching alot more fish.he tells me that the Dirty jig with the Grande bass mega claws will work , but certian times i need something else. my leson today was the Tube. Thanks Professer Tom.LOL  i now have one more tool to use.

cool, every new bait and technique you learn your getting closer to putting the puzzle together. couple that with taking detailed notes and learning seasonal movements and patterns your on your way to becoming a very good bass fisherman. great job keep it up.

What types of line do you usually fish with and what test when it comes to tubes? I've been thinking some 10lb Mono or Co-Polymer or 15lb braid? Let me know if I am heading the right direction with my assumption. Also, if you were to choose 3 colours for tubes... what would they be?

As Far as line goes 10lb test on spinning and 12 on a baitcaster. I think natural colors would work best to resemble bait fish. I was fishing a green pumpkin with gold and purple fleck.on an 1/8 ounce jig head in no more than 8ft of water.you might want to go a little heavier for anything deeper.I ran the jig head up the tube and pushed the line tie out of the tube.tie a Palomar and your good. tried out tubes yesterday. first cast bang caught one. then a few more casts later bang another. maybe caught around 4 on the tube. think the tubes i have are alittle to big. so i'm gonna get smaller ones.
