That would be a good time to start. Somedays the bass like them all day long. I will use them in the mornings and after the sun pops out. Just look for some shady areas when the sun is out. On the water or more importantly under. Good luck | |

topwater frogs are my fav thing to fish with. although this year the topwater bite hasnt been good for me im hoping it turns on later in the summer. i use snag proof and my newest purchases this year are koppers live target... love... and the transporter by paycheck. that thing is just awesome as far is a frog mixed with a popper.

Frogs can be effectively used in spring through fall but are best in the summer. Fish them in and around cover, slop, pads, along the shoreline, grass etc... I am uploading another short vid now where I caught a nice one tonight on a frog. Frogs can be fun and addicting to throw.

This is right on the money. It has not turned on yet, just at times in select spots, but not that hot, and yes, those baits are the deal, with the only other one I would add in is the Spro Poppin frog and you are all set. All frogs work at one time or another with the right person using them, but these work best in the areas that we fish in the Northeast.

I at times struggle with a hookset on frog baits, do you all generally wait till you can feel the fish? i feel that i am pulling the bait away too fast or allowing to much time for the fish to figure the frog isnt a frog at all!

ya. i think a lot of people when they start to fish with frogs do that. shoot i did it. the first thing i do when i see a blow up is try to find my frog. if its not there or you have hard time seeing it there a good chance there is a fish on. the 2nd thing you have to try and do is try and get a feel to see if the fish is on and has the frog. now all this happens so fast its kinda hard but it comes much easier with practice. a lot of guys will say give it a 1 or 2 count then set the hook. really its just a matter of personal pref and how you want to approach it. sometimes you wont get that super aggressive blow up. ive had 4lbers just suck my frog right outta the water and me think its just a pounder. you have to find that balance of waiting but not waiting to long and that just comes with practice and experience. good luck to ya

Yep wait a sec or two. Reel down and set the hook. Sometimes the bass are just trying to kill it and not really getting ahold of it. When that happens after you've tried to set the hook and got nothing you can either quickly throw back with the frog and try again or throw a soft plastic in the same spot and you should get bit.

Good video, the bronzeye popper is the go to, but recently i've had some luck on the ish's phat frog-it already has a rattle inside and it has a separate air chamber from the hook slot
