I use a 4/0 hook with no weight, and reel them across sparse-matted vegetation. | |

I like the Rage Tails better myself.

I like the horny toads for calmer water, and the rage tails for when there is a slight chop on the water.

depending on what type of vegatation your fishing the thicker it is usally your hooking percentage goes down . this is a big part of frog fishing, here is a tip , when fishing the frog dont set the hook until you feel weight NOT when you see the strike. and when your fishing and you get a blow-up , cast again they;ll usally hit it again and if you dont catch it keep casting sometimes hell keep hitting it until you get to a open whole or the end of the grass line . be persistent and never give up. some days you;ll get 7 bites and 7 fish and other days youll get 12 bites and 4 fish this is the nature of frog or spoon fishing. exspecially if your fishing HEAVY MATTED grass

tom is right and it is also good to have a your 1-2 punch ready if he misses it throw something in there like a plastic or something along them lines he might eat that ... thinking the killed wat you were throwing on top !!

good thinking vinnie about the 1-2 punch . a heavy jig works too. if you never tried it, next time your buzzbait fishing and one blows up on it have a senko ready or a fluke or something and the trick is to get it right where the fish blew up on it as fast as you can i usally have a plastic bait hanging over the side ready to cast. because unlike a frog type bait they only hit the buzzbait once for some reason . so when you throw that plastic right in the swirl he made 3 seconds later the bass thinks he killed what he hit and he will eat it EVERY TIME like magic try it.
