I really dont use a whole lot of trailers, but I am with Patrick on this one. Match the color to your spinnerbait. Also, a small ringtail worm is a good choice as well.

I really like the Zoom split tail trailers. It's 4" with long skinny "legs" on a grub body. Or buy a spinner bait with a longer skirt. Strike King has some that have a kind of second skirt that eliminates the need for a trailer.

I only use wareagle finesse spinnerbaits without a trailer or an assasinator baits clacker with a little dipper on the back. No trailer hooks for me.

I never use a trailer at all --- ever. As a matter of fact, except for some winter or night fishing applications, with the variety of Chatterbaits I have, and the effectivenesss of them.. I rarely need a spinnerbait anymore at all.

Dont use a beaver or craw immitation trailer.. there are way better craw immitations out there than a spinnerbait.. I dont use trailers very often but if you want to use one your best bet would be like a curly tail grub single or twin tail it doesnt really matter..just match the color to the spinnerbait and match the spinnerbait to the color of the baitfish they are feeding on in that body of water.

I only use a trailer hook when they are short striking. If they miss the bait in fairly open water, I add a trailer hook.

I don't use trailers all the time but when I do I tie on my own trailers made out of marabou or some other synthetic. Not as durable as plastic but tons more action. Must be the fly tyer in me.
