I fished at the Eastwood MetroPark in Dayton on Sunday. If you've never been there, it can be a fun little lake to fish. It's very near the Wright-Patterson AFB (RT 4 and Harshman Road exit). It's 100+ acres of old gravel pit with a great 4 lane ramp. Be aware of the daily rules for the lake. Some days it's idle only, and the other days it's 35 mph. They do patrol it, and they do write tickets. I'll also warn you that the lake is about 4 foot low right now. If you put in, the two ramps nearest the restrooms have better depth. Still, it's possible to drive off the end of the ramp as low as it is. The water's clear, so check before you put in. I mainly fished to check my new battery out as well as my bow fishfinder, which has been giving me issues staying powered up (since Erie in July). I also installed a trolling motor choke, which eliminated all of my intereference on the bow unit. I got two bites on a shakey head worm in 10 foot of water, and lost a good fish on a 5xd chartreuse shad crankbait coming to the boat. It decided to rain and I left. I felt mission accomplished was enough. I did throw a carolina rig for a while, but no takers. THat was odd for that little lake. Eric

Simon might disagree with you wanting to see my ugly mug. That little lake can be dynamite at times, and it has some smallmotuh in their as well. They can be more difficult to catch, but I've seen a few 3 or 4 pound fish in there. Eric

That would have been a good report if ya had some pics of fish with it. I have never fished that place but always wondered about it when driving down the road past it. Going to Alum this weekend and next weekend following hopefully the Winnecone chain or how ever you spell it. After that the RIVER BABY!!!

You can't take pics of fish unless they get in the boat Simon! I was just happy I got my bow fishfinder working. I will be up at Alum this weekend, the 4th I believe. Don't know why, since I know I stink there in the fall anyhow. The Ohio River? Why would you purposely do that to yourself?

When fishing this lake, do you guys normally fish the weedbeds or fish the dropoffs and such? Most of the other lakes I fish just to the north are only about 5 ft. deep so this is kinda new territory for me. Thanks

I have never fished Eastwood before. I have been by it a lot of times. I would have to think the early bite would be best. Because later in the day I see boats and jet ski's everywhere. So try the beds when less traffic and move deeper when the crazies get out on the lake. I will be trying this lake this spring. (early)
