On the way home from work today I stopped off to 2 small side of the road ponds. There was big bluegill schooling in the first pond I went to. I threw the strike king swimjig with the super fluke trailer and had a nice hit just as I was pulling the lure out of the water. After another few casts I had another hit and set the hook and started reeling it in and could feel a little bit of weight. She was a decent size weighing 3lbs. I stopped over to the other pond which didn't look like it would hold any decent bass and threw the jig in and Bam right under an overhanging tree a bass nailed it . That one weighed 2lbs 4oz. I'm going to try some paca craws as a trailer tomorrow and see what happens.

ahhh see youve stumbled upon one of my lil gemmers....good job man on those swim jigs....pond is VERY shallow throughout....find the few holes and you're guaranteed a 3.5-4 lber.  Not a ton of bass, but the few in there are decent.  Try the first one by the "business." apparently they let you fish it a couple days a week as long as you don't disrupt the tours they give at said business

Rabid, they have been eating that combo well lately. Steve, I have both types of swimjigs. They both have done well for me Now i'm just about at the point where I don't want to catch anything smaller than 3lbs. . Mike, it's not the pond you're thinking of lol.

Even not using a swimjig will work. I was using a HP Flippin Jig from Dirty jigs the other day and found they liked them swam just over the weeds ticking them as I reeled in slowly. Worked great as soon as it was about to break the weed edge they would hit it.

SML, Same boat man!  Lost all my swimjigs and i just swim my HP Flippers too...works just as well as long as you're not pulling through heavy pads/grass.

dubi , in my small lakes i kill the picks  turtles eat them raccoons  ect.. they get out of control and eat alot of small bass and other prey . i know this might sound bad to some people but this is how you manage a small pond i also keep some small bass on my small lakes that have a ton of small bass too many they compete for the food soon youll have bigger bass
