I spent midday Saturday at the lake. It was a parking lot/washing machine thanks to all the pleasure boats. I managed one fish in two hours of fishing, and that came ten minutes in. Water clarity was worse the further north you went, and the water temps were near 80 degress. I found bait on the main lake but they seem scattered, no big pods yet. I spent most of the time throwing a Striker King chartreuse sexy shad crankbait (KVD 1.5 and 5xd) around windy points, and picked up the one keeper out of a brush pile. He had swatted at a prop bait, but didn't hook up. Also threw a carolina rig, but nothing. Shakeyhead, nothing. The wind shifted out of the ENE, to the N, but that didn't help my causes any. I can't wait for the fall bite to pick up, which usually coincides with the pleasure boaters going away once school is in. School should be year round IMO. Eric | |
