Day one of the Federation Nation Classic, had 20 boaters and 11 non-boaters competing for 1 spot on state team. Cold front moved threw AGAIN 20+mph winds. Water temps from 56 to 60. Visibilty was about a foot but the water looked green and black in most places. Buckeye is known for a good spring lake but after May it's a different story, and the bass knew it. 6 anglers weighed in fish today. I was not one of them. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for me. Only 4 and some change out of the lead. THe leader is atleast in my club. Good luck to Will. More report to follow after day 2. Day 2 to the wind was not as bad but picked up to 15mph later in the day. The water temps seemed to be a little cooler on Sunday. I started off the day throwing a spinnerbait and crankbait to see if I could ban one in the head. Well that did not happen so I started slowing down and using a shaky head. ONe bite and it was a good one. Saugeye that is. I had one other bite for the day. So needless to say that was the worst tournament I ever fished. Will from my club finished 2nd and earned a spot on the state team. He had around 5 pounds for 2 days. The overall winner had 6 something. I believe only 11 anglers caught fiah out of 30. Boy do I hate BUCKEYE LAKE> | |
