Hey when I use a 1/8 and 1/4 chatterbait I dont have any problems but when I go to 3/8 and above they dont work right the blade does not go back and forth. They break off  very easy when I am casting them. I am used 14lb Flo. Any thoughts on this.

Thanks

John

You are doing something wrong that I can't diagnose because nobody I have ever talked to has had this problem and myself, Tom, and my brother have used them all the time in every situation  for years, and nothing like what you described ever has happened?? I would need even more detail to begin to figure out what is wrong, but trust me it is not the baits. It is something else, but it is so uncommon of a problem that I have nothing to go on?

There is one thing I can tell you for sure though: With 14 LB line, there is something wrong with the line. It is damaged by heat, sun, abrasion, kinks, or all of the above. Period. No debate. They, nor any other bait at that weight or up to 1/2 oz will ever break when casting unless the line is damaged.

Are you sure your using the REAL thing? The imitators like the strike king ones break and dont vibrate at all if one bit of grass is on them and ive had them break.

ZMAN Chatterbaits work all the time, but there is something wrong with the line period.

And to add in, for a lure almost 1/2 an ounce i would bump up to 17lb, i use 12 and 14 for finesse senko applications, if not slightly lighter, not chatterbaits.

So do I but there is NO WAY any 14 lb line will break casting a 3/8 ounce bait ever, unless the line is damaged. No Debate, Just a fact!

Think about it. When you use a crankbait you do not have line that is above 14 lbs very often unless it is a square bill in shallow wood etc, ... does the crankbait break the line?? No.

this is why i DONT use florocarbon every backlash you get it weakens the line and it breaks so i use mean green mono and braid where i need it

Ok thanks I thought it might be the line but was not sure. My buddy was having the same problem. Also it was the Strike King and not the Zman so I will switch the the Zman and see what happens and switch line. Thanks everyone
