Hello All, ‘Fish On Bass Anglers’ is a non-affiliated bass club located in Montgomery County, Maryland. FOBA promotes tournament fishing with the attitude of sharing knowledge and friendly competition. Our members work to provide a fun and competitive environment for both beginning and experienced anglers. Tournament fees are low ($25 for single-day, $30 for two-day) and with 13 annual tournaments there is always one to fit a busy schedule. A great way to learn new techniques and fish new water! Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month. In case you are are wondering...I did copy that paragraph from our flyer (in case it seemed too salesman-ish :)) We are looking to get some new members on board for the upcoming 2012 season, both boaters and co-anglers. I hope this is okay to post on here, I'm not trying to take anything away from this site. Marc Borger has been a member of our club for quite a while and I'm sure he can vouch for how great of a learning experience FOBA can be. We typically average 15 or more boats at each tournament and we are hoping to grow even more. One thing that sets us apart from most clubs is that our members share where/when/how they caught their fish at each tournement during the weigh-in results. Our website is alawys up to date and has all the information you will need to join... We also have a discussion board for any questions or just general fish talk. Tournament Locations: Lake Anna - VA Lake Gaston - VA/NC Potomac River - DC/MD/VA Black Hills/Little Seneca Lake - MD Conowingo Reservoir - MD/PA Deep Creek Lake - MD Susquehana River/Flats - MD plus several other places annually... Anyway, check it out if you're interested in tournament fishing or just getting out and fishing new places in general, thanks everyone! www.fishonbassclub.com

Fishing in a club is the single best thing you can do to improve your fishing. I don't think there is a better club for improving your fishing and forming friendships than Fish On Bass Anglers. Our only problem seems to be that all of our co-anglers end up buying boats after a few years so now we have a shortage of co-anglers!

Inside joke. When we fished Deep Creek we stayed at a club members house, that member considers my wife and I members of the outcast clique since we drink it up a bit and have gone to some hard rock shows with him (ACDC in fact).

Our meetings are the first Wednesday of the month and all you have to do to join is show up and pay the annual $60, then you can fish as many or as few of the tournaments as you like and just pay the entry fees.

I joined FOBA last year as a co-angler and it was great. I was only 16 and had never fished a tournament in my life. This year, at 16/17, I joined as a boater. Everyone was great to me, even though I had some bad mechanical failures one day which cost me any chance at a finish (Yes, the problem occured right when I found a group of fish in a mat and had just finished my limit.) I had two pretty good finishes and consider this year a good tournament year for me. I learned a ton about the mechanics of tournaments. I found that while in tournaments, I tend to overthink everthing. I get caught up in doing this, that, all of the stuff I would never even think about when out for fun. Whenever we would fish the river, I ended up catching all my fish just going out and punching after I had settled in and found out I was over complicating things. Next year, I plan on fishing differently. Just go and fish. Pretend its a sunday morning and dad and I are launching from Belle Haven like we always do. Don't get scared to leave what isn't working in order to find fish. Anyways, Don't even think twice. Join FOBA, its a great club and tons of fun. Now i'm headed out to the river. I hope I can get my motor fixed. I pulled the carbs off for a cleaning and then did a full decarb and I found out my problem is elsewhere, hopefully in the shift cable. I hope it works.

Are all these guys in this club, members of the Bass College and do they buy their stuff through OUR site and take advantage of our free bait program? I hope so. and if not I hope Marc and Ryan are working on this, as the guys who aren't are missing out on a great opportunity. To not get the benefits of the free baits with orders that they would make anyway, is a shame, and it only helps the site here as well. Steve said it costs $40.00 a month just to keep the site open the way it is, without adding anything or doing anything, that is just basic operating costs to keep it open, so without the support of all the members, in the way of tackle Sales through our affiliates like Tackle warehouse, we can't keep the site open to provide the content and detail and offers that we do, and we don't ask for anything from the members. Quite the contrary, we give a lot to them, so lets let everyone know about purchasing their tackle through the Bass College. It is not only a bonus for them, but a necessity to keep the site open and do the Kids tournaments, and bring other content to the site. Thanks PS: and for YOUTH MEMBERS EVERYWHERE, the LARGEMOUTH and other COURSES AT FACULTY OF FISHING, Should almost be MANDATORY for them as they are that helpful to a young angler and even a more experienced angler that is still learning techniques and behavior, and at $5.00 each, it is a crime not to take advantage of them.

If I ran a club, especially for youth, I would make the Courses part of the Club itself, and include several of the courses in with the membership dues. In other words, if it was 60.00, I would keep 55.00 and make the other $5.00 a course.

We are based in Mongomery County, our meetings are held at the Dick's Sporting Goods store in Gaithersburg....First Wednesday of each month at 7PM. That a little bit of a drive for you in Glen Burnie, but if you're willing to drive we'd love to have you! There is no minimum requirements for membership, although we typically expect 4 tournaments and 4 meetings for members...that is also the requirement to fish in the year end classic tournment (IE, in order to 'qualify' for the classic, you need 4 tournys and 4 meetings).

For anyone who is interested in FOBA...Our next cub meeting will be held next Wednesday, Feb. 1st at Dick's Sporting Goods in Gaithersburg. I would encourage anyone interested in friendly tournament fishing throughout the area to come check it out. We will be discussing our 2012 tournament schedule in more detail as well as general club functions. The season starts at the end of March so now is the perfect time to come and meet everyone!
