Moderator Posts: 336 | My dad and I met Marc Borger this morning at Belle Haven Marina. We launched at 9 and pulled out at 4:45. WATER TEMPS: Blue Planes: 58-60 Spoils: 47-51 Belle Haven: 47-48 4 Mile Run:51-56 We started off fishing right around the corner to the right of Belle Haven Marina, i was throwing a jig, my dad a texas rig, and Marc was tossing a MANNS Stingray grub. Marc got the only bite and broke off, chances are it was a big Catfish. We then made a run up and across river to the spoils, we went around the back throwing jigs, silver buddys, dropshots, stingray grubs and texas rigged sweet beavers with no luck. We made our way to the back of the cove and my dad picked up the first fish of the day on the texas rig. Soon there after Marc boated the second fish of the day on a purple skirted twin-tail grub rigged up on a football head. We went a while with no takers so we made the run to blue planes. My dad got a good bite off the T-dock on a watermelon red senko, but failed to hook-up....We then went about an hour with no luck when i got a good bite on my dropshot, i then carefully played the fish to the boat and landed a 3.9 pounder. For the next hour and a half we fan casted the warm water dishcharge with nothing but a small striper to show for it. After going a long while without anything we moved into 4 Mile run and came out with nothing to show for it. With an hour left of daylight we ran back to the outsde of the Spoils and i boated the last fish of the day on a texas rigged sweet beaver. All in all it was a good day for december fishing on the Potomic river, we hope to get out again soon if we have decent weather. | |

Great catch for December bass. So why are the Planes so much warmer than the other areas?

Well done Ryan and crew.
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn. ~Chuck Clark

It is a hot water discharge the plant is right there. You can catch bass on topwater at times in the winter.

yes, its a sewage treatment plant that dishcharges water. There are tons of shad there with stripers and largies mixed in. can someone say ALABAMA RIG?
