Report for 12/11/11

Van Sciver Lake Tullytown, PA Penn Warner Club

This morning I hit the water with fishing buddy Art Vengals at 9:30 the air temperature was a chilly 35 degrees. The water temperature was in the Mid 40's and visability in the water was about 3 '. The bright sunshine and hardly a breeze made for a very comfortable day on the water. The morning was pretty slow with each of us catching only a few Yellow Perch. Around 1:00 we started to catch a few crappies mixed in with the Perch and Art landed a Northern Pike. We continued to catch Perch and and were hoping the smallmouth would turn on. Around 2:30 I hooked up with a nice Smallmouth and got it in the boat. Turned out that would be the only bass of the day. The Yellow Perch and White Bass bite was fun the the last half hour before dark. We caught several of each on a Sonic Blade bait, ripping it off the bottom and they would kill it on the flutter back down. It was a rewarding day for me because I caught a lot of fish including the Smallmouth on a drop shot bait that I molded and poured myself last week. ( first soft bait I made myself)

The Penn Warner Club is a private club owned by Waste Management that has 3 good sized lakes with a wide variety of fish. The lakes were created when the Warner Quarries removed stone and gravel to be sold. At one point years ago tug boats would bring barges from the Delaware River into the lake to transport the gravel. The only drawback to this great fishery is it is surrounded by landfills.

I know Bob pretty well did an interveiw with him at the Greater Phila. Expo 2 years ago. Also fished the USABASSIN tournaments on the Delaware river that Bob and his partner Jerry Golden fished. We had to tow them in once. Bob is a nice guy to talk fishing with.

I've done more expo's I think than tournaments or atleast it feels that way. I really enjoy doing the shows to get the word out on products. To have thousands of people look at what your promoting is a good thing. I've worked 2 Bassmaster Classics and a lot of the local shows the last 4 yrs.

This is awesome, I really have to join PennWarner. My dad is good friends with Dale Machesic, an outdoor writer, he worked with him for many years for the newspaper. I think he's fished with Bob Murray.

I would think that Dale and Bob have fished many times together. They both do a great job in Bucks County reporting on whats going on in the outdoors. If you can afford a membership it's a great place fish. You can fish every technique with the 3 different lakes.  In the spring we will get together and fish at Penn Warner and the Delaware River. We will do a video for Steve.
