well due too a mild winter here and a perfect day right before a mean cold front blows through i hit the local pond for one last day. this pond is crazy! its like a mini california lake, this place has depths of 30ft!  well the day in all was great. water temps 46-49 air temp 60 sw winds 10-15. finding fish 6-16 ft on sleep banks and rocks in deep water also trees lais down a steep bank. techniques this time changed. my buddy lost one that looked close to 8lbs right beside the kayak he focused his efforts on a c-rig with a fluke, while he caught several smaller fish he missed and lost his chance to boat his toad. i was focusing on a craw dad bite. With a custom crawdad and a 1/8-1/4 oz jig heads i only boated two with missing several others just because of how slow i was fishing i was late on some big bites. had one i thought was a log i was snagged in but as i thought i was popping a bait loose i was just making her mad till she nealry ripped pole from my hands! but i still boated a 4.1 and a 9.13lbr!!!! also broke one off on a hookset that was prob 11 ( <- hasnt happend to me in years!!) the key for me was fishing super slow. letting the crawdad stand straight up untill it made em mad!!

Been fishing tournaments every saturday since December on SML and its taken about 18-19 pounds to win every week. Really good bags have been brought in. Biggest bag was 21-9. Lots of 6-7 pounders being caught. Fish have been chewing all winter. Finished 3rd a week ago with 16 pounds.

My friend runs the tournament, I can get pictures and results from him if you would like to put it up. It's already posted on two other websites.
