from this weeks fishing report via the News Urinal (Journal). "Charlie Donahue was fishing a Baby Minus One lure in Waples Pond when he landed an 8.10-pound largemouth. The fish, which was released alive by the angler, was reported by Patty Foley at Captain Bones Bait and Tackle."

I really hate how they dont take and/or publish a photo.  I was hoping to come on here and see a post from maybe someone that knew the guy or himself with a pic.  They're still biting if you work at em.  I need to get out there and bear the cold like a grizzly bear.

Not legit Its Waples Pal It has about 5 bass in the whole place and I went by there almost every day and nobody was there. You can not even fish it from the shore. BOGUS. Maybe caught a 4 pounder, they have no idea what a bass like that looks like. Thats why there is no picture because it doesnt exist. I am not saying there is not one bass that is big in there becasue there is, but it was frozen on the shore until 2 days ago?

yeah sounds iffy which is why they should make like a state regulation website where any citation fish must be photographed and logged.  i've heard a lot of people say they caught big fish and randomly i hear waples alot.  must be some pond somewhat nearby where people are trying to keep a secret, so they say the poop pond.  but you never knowww

Mike it is up the road a few miles from my house right on the highway here. It is the lowest catch rate in the entire state with almost no bass in it.It has no cover, no vegatation and no ramp. It is the one by the liquor store before Rt 5. Right on rt 1. They have been saying that for years and its not true. I was there all week long every day I went by. Its BS! He did not drive down there from Captain Bones at 20 degrees to a half frozen piece of crap and catch that. Its not true. They think thats funny to send people there and have you beat yourself to death in a lousy hole and then you are not where they caught it. They have done this for 30 years They think its funny

wheres capt bones at?   i prolly could figure out more than likely where it was caught.  plus just to leave the pond to get the citation, then re-release the fish would take some effort in the current weather we've been facing just to keep the bass alive that long

LOL I doubt it. lol It is just not happening without going in the boat and spending the entire day from 9 am till 4 Pm fishing slow small baits and I am not up to that Pal. LOL I am waiting, it is not true, You can catch one or two bass and sometimes one is decent but this is some lousy weather and the places are just not good enough to waste $60 or 70.00 dollars in gas to do it in my opinion. Too many good places coming up in just 6 or 8 weeks to bother with this Bogus stuff. lol Calll me though so we can meet up on Sunday for an hour or so.

Cool Thats the kind of info we need. Thats pretty hard to believe honestly. I had one hooked on video last year with Skip right there and filmed it right up to the boat where it got off. I would bet that is it. One of the the only 10 or so bass in the entire pond. lol

Thanks for getting that. Now I will just go there again one day in March and beat the hell out of the place for 8 hours with swimbaits and video the whole thing.

You do know that is the worst pond in the entire state right?? lol No grass, low catch rates, not enough food. I guess thats why it is that big huh? Very few bass and no competition and no pressure becasue of the ramp and how lousy it is. Makes sense now that i think aout. I will throw some giant swimbaits there again one more time and see what happens but I'll tell you it is not a good place nor is it any fun and good luck launching anything but a real tiny flat bottom boat unless you back in 40 yards and push it off!

Waples does have some big Pickerel in it but I agree the bass #'s are low.  But this catch is like you said even the slowest millponds all have at least one big girl in it.  But its cool to see a healthy bass like that in a pond like that and even cooler that they released it.  if she is 8 now, does she get bigger come Spring?

Steve are you telling us the truth about waples pond,is it a bass paradise, did you loose that fish on purpose so you dont want people to fish there. JUST KIDDING. Some of these ponds that have low fishing pressure cough up some big bass once in a while
