Does anyone use jointed or two peice crankbaits? I don't really see them used too often or hear much about them. Can anybody give me some opinions on these? I was thinking about trying one out to see if I like the action. Any suggestions? I've seen rapala make a good amount of these style cranks. I usually fish lipless, squarebills, and small wiggle cranks.

I only have jointed swimbait's. I don't use jointed minnow's, but that's just me!

Thanks, I'm just looking for some opinions, I've been told its not one of the best crankbaits for largemouth. I do like the jointed swimbaits though! I'm looking to get the spro bbz1 or junior

Yea, you should probably start out with the 4" model and see how you like it! Plus it's cheaper!

I've heard some good things about the jackall aragon jointed crankbaits. I haven't personally used them yet, so I can't say for sure. I have seen some underwater videos before, and they look like they would do pretty well.

I've thrown a jointed crankbait maybe two times, and didn't get a hit. In those same spots, I got hits with a square bill crankbait. I think it's a preference, if someone has gotten a hit, it's a great bait for them, it's not for me though. I have already moved it to my least used lure tackle box.

I completely agree, its a confidence thing sometimes, I'm just trying to get confident with a wide variety of lures

I absolutely do the same thing. I sometimes force a lure so much that I catch nothing. Now I am to the point that I will use a search bait first and see if anything is in my area, then switch to a new lure. I gauge my opinion on that new lure after that, based on the season. For example, I have taken a liking to the Sweat Beaver, GY Creature, numerous Zoom Baits, and several Wave Worm baits. I wasn't sure, so I made sure there were fish around and tried those lures to be sure. When it comes to hard baits, I'm a bit more strict. If I use a certain crankbait all day as a search bait, and don't get anything, I likely won't use it again. I've found Lucky Craft and Megabass to be the most consistantly constructed baits, and work best for me. And yes, the wife does not like seeing Megabass baits on the bank statement, ha.

Ha, my downfall is forcing a lure too much though. I read the reviews and am just SURE it HAS to work. So I try too long and end up having a bad day fishing. Once I fish at my confidence lake though and it doesn't work, I throw it right in the Crapple Box. For some odd reason, I WON'T throw it away like I should though, ha. And that is why I have clutter in my house.

LOL, a couple of my friends are getting really into bass fishing too and I'm really trying to upgrade them from their previous believings. I WANT to give them my stuff I don't want, but I can't with my conscious, ha. I think giving it to kids is a GREAT idea. Are there any charities that I can donate to, or should I just find some kids at the lake and hand it over? I have a LOT of baits that caught me instead of fish that need gone, lol.

I have a small rapala jointed shad rap, and it is amazing for crappie, bluegill, and the ocasional bass. I love that bait the action for it is perfect and it is very loud. I fish it mainly either a stop and go retreve which this bait is perfect for because it goes from lots of action to stopped suspended. And the other way in which I fish it is kind of like a jerkbait, but I dont rio and jerk, I give it a couple twitches and reel, mixing it up a lot. Most of the time they hit when it just stops or as soon as it starts moving with the stop and go, and with the twitching action the fish will hammer it with tons of force. If you are intreasted in a jointed crankbait I would really recomend this.

the jointed crankbaits seem to work much better when used more as a jerkbait than a regular crankbait. the regular wobble of the tail when basic retrieving looks unnatural and not the right profile of baitfish. now if you were fishing very dingy water, this may be a slight advantage. Frankly the only time I'd ever throw something like that would be twitching and pausing trying to get a reaction strike. But then again, I have at least 5-6 other baits I have more confidence in doing the same technique, so I find myself throwing something like that when ALL ELSE FAILS.

I use the jointed Shad Raps but more of a slower finesse style. One thing about it is, they have less water displacement.
