A Fathers Thoughts.......... Today.....A Sad day but then again a happy day full of memories just as well. A day I had always kept inthe back of my mind. I've never been very good at saying good-bye so I just didn't think about it much knowing that someday I would have to. Today I say that good-bye to my Old Friend. One that holds countless memories. The friend that took my son and I on adventure after adventure and always brought us home safe and sound. One that we held countless conversations over dreaming of victories to come and sharing things only best friends can talk about. One that provided the space for a father and son to learn to appriciate each other as well as the beauty of the out doors. But, today we will say good-bye to our boat he grew up on, learned to fish on and the boat that let us both live our dreams. Today I will deliver our Old Friend to a new owner, one I hope will take care of it as we did and share many adventures and treasured memories like Chris and I did with his new friend. Thanks for the memories. You will be forever missed. Take a kid fishing!!! You will never be sorry!

Great post. My dad and I were just talking about this an hour ago! He is the one who taught me everything and got me so passionate about bass fishing. He would take me out on the boat all the time. He loved that thing. When money was tight he sold it to provide for our family. He didn't want to sell it but we were more important then any old boat. I hope to buy him one someday as a gift. He is getting older now and I try to keep him young by taking him fishing and now he is learning a thing or two from me!

Very cool. Me too thats where I learned it also. He died in 1998 before Kurt and I went to the Big Bass World Champioship so he never saw any of the sucess or radio shows, tv, the tournaments, none of that. Too bad I really miss going with him. He would have loved the internet and this site and the boats and the tournaments now. He lived for that stuff.

Yeah it sucks as my dad has Aprkinson's and I see him getting worse each week. Such a strong man, 43 years USN, Paicific fleet boxing champ in WWII and now this. Glad I have had him this long.
