shooot 50 degree weather? I'm wearing a long sleeve tee and sweatpants!  it's usually below freezing when I fish for steelhead up in NY and lately it's been mid 30's here.  The gloves I found work best I got from walmart.  Full wool mittens that have finger cut outs.  So you can use them as gloves (with the mitten part velcroed back) or full out winter mittens.  Best part, the wool doesnt retain water and dries quickly after reaching in to get a fish.  Especially important when holding those trout a minute or two to let them regain their strength.  If you look at some of my last reports, you'll see the ones I'm wearing/talking about.

Wool half-finger gloves or neoprene if it's raining and cold.

@ Scottie, any brands in particular you'd suggest?  I use to wear batting/golf gloves but theyre too thin, wind goes right right the holes in them. plus when wet, they're useless

What To Look For

Keeping your hands warm during winter golf play fishing is essential to the touch and feel of your game. Look for gloves that are water repellent, windproof and have an elastic Velcro strap to adjust before shots casts. Stretch-knit cuffs on a glove trap heat in for increased warmth. Find premium leather in the palm and index finger to give you a better grip, soft feel and durable glove. To avoid a bulky glove, search for lightweight insulating fleece that provides maximum warmth with a thin layer.

The type of leather used to make a golf  fishing glove can be important. If you're looking for a high-end glove, you'll probably want Cabretta leather. Cabretta leather is thin, with good gripping qualities. Weather-related golf gloves are made of many materials. For instance, FootJoy's RainGrip gloves use microfiber materials to battle "wet or humid conditions." FootJoy also makes WinterSof gloves for cold conditions. These gloves have a Cabretta leather palm and a Thinsulate outer shell for added warmth.

Mechanics gloves work and X amour tight fits are great. Always could use jersey gloves. 1 dollar a pair, just get plenty if they get wet. The only gloves that I have found to keep my hands dry are neoprene gloves but the are not very casting friendly.
