I just got back from an interesting fishing trip on Milford Lake here in Kansas. The weather was nice and sunny all morning, so I figured I'd hit the water in the afternoon. Of course, right when I'm backing away from the dock on my boat, it starts sprinkling. By the time I was full throttle, it was pouring. When I got to my spot that I was going to fish, it started hailing, ha! I was determined though, and stuck it out and I couldn't have been rewarded better! It was 72 degrees outside, 65 degree water temperature, and beautiful 6-7 foot clarity. I decided to start fishing a rocky point in a good sized cove and landed two small but keeper Smallmouth Bass on a Yamamoto Tube. I moved over to a main lake point that had a small cove right next to it with several downed trees in it. I switched to a Dirty Jigs Swim Jig in Alabama Craw with a Pit Boss Trailer in Texas Craw. The very first tree I casted to, I landed the 3.6 pound bass pictured below. I caught 5 more keeper sized LM Bass in the 2-3 lb range, all on the Alabama Craw Swim Jig. About an hour and a half before I was going to leave, I got my one and only Alabama Craw colored swim jig hung up. I wasn't worried at the time, because I had plenty of Green Pumpkin Dirty Jigs Swim Jigs, which is the most popular color for the lake. I didn't get another nibble the rest of the time I was there. I am guessing the Green Pumpkin color had been used a lot lately and the Alabama Craw color was something they hadn't really seen lately, which is why it got hit and the Pumpkin didn't.
All in all, a very good day on the water. The Swim Jig has really become my go to favorite lure. In my opinion, it is the MOST versatile lure out there. If I am swimming it, and I see some cover in the water, I can pitch to it really quick and twitch it a couple times without having to pick up another rod or tie on another lure. Also, my GoPro Camera will be arriving this coming Thursday, so I will be putting up videos, hopefully informational, a few times a month.

Thanks! After the hail, I don't even know if lightning would have deterred me, lol.

I know exactly what your talking about with this weather here in KS. Wake up, make the coffee, look outside and its clear and sunny, 60 degrees...head out to the lake and it starts pouring lol! Ive only been out to both Pottowatomie State Lakes so far this year, and so far off to a good start. Dirty jigs swim jigs has been my go to so far, that and the chatterbait.
