i just recently got back into fishing.  i never really traveled outside new bedford/dartmouth/freetown area.  just recently went to Sampson pond and Glen Charlie pond.

whole different ballgame than the little murky ponds i am use to fishing.

so my question is what do i use to fish this big clear water grassy pond?  i would say 55-65% of it is covered with grass 1-2 ft below the surface.

the first time i went i threw lots of worms, jerkbaits and crankbaits, total of 4 bass, bunch of yellow perch, pickeral and what i believe was a huge shad, look like a huge golden shiner.  the last time out i threw a spinner bait for 30 min with no bites, then for the hell of it i tried something i read online about retreiving fast so they can't get a good look at it, i honestly couldn't reel it in any faster, i did it more as a joke than anything, and wham a nice 1.5lbs bass, then 2 more hits that i missed.  then it stopped???  caught a crappie trolling a jerkbait, and a small bass with a shiner also.  pulled over 40 fish in the 2 daysjust not the fish i was looking for.

stil have yet to catch a small mouth, any tips on this?

thanks

matt
