We went to Charles Mill lake yesterday and fished from 7am to 6 pm. It's about 1,350 acres and has a 10 hp limit. Most of the lake is 6 ft deep or less and there is a ton of wood cover. The lake is really muddy with about 6 inches of visiblity. He hadn't been there in a long time and it was my first time there. As we were heading to the main lake to look around we saw a drop off going from 8-17 ft. with a bunch of baitfish and some bigger fish suspending in 5-10 feet. We fished that for a while with crankbaits, jigs, flukes, spooks, and worms without a hit. We kept going and fished a deeper bank (went from 1-6 feet quickly) and I got one 12 incher on a Luck-e-strike RC series 2 crankbait on a laydown. We fished that whole bank without another hit. We fished until about 5 pm before we got another hit. He caught it by flipping a Trigger-X big moe to a laydown on the same bank where I had caught mine. Before he got that we had fished another drop off with a whole bunch of suspended fish on it with cranks, drop-shot, carolina rig, texas rig, deep jerkbait, and a few other things. Nothing would hit anything and I really don't know how to catch deep suspended fish except with drop shots and spoons, but neither of us had any spoons. Also I had to drop shot with a baitcaster because as we were fishing I somehow dropped my spinnning rod into about 9 feet of water. I really don't know how I dropped it but we tried fishing it out for a long time with lipless cranks. It wasn't the best day, 2 fish in 11 hours and losing my only spinning rod (with matt's reel on it...). lol

That sucks that you lost your spinning rod. Seemed like a reel hard day but at least you caught something
