I have a junior bassmasters tournament there this weekend, I was wondering if anyone could give me any tips on what to use and general areas of where to fish. I have never fished Lake Springfield before any help would be great.

Lake Springfield is in Springfield, IL and it is a reservoir which is used as a cooling lake. It is 4,234 acres and its max depth is 32 feet. The lake has a lot of creek arms. I know that there are quite a few docks on the lake, and that there is there is rip-rap, but other than that i don't know much about what cover is in the lake.

Ok I checked it out. I would be throwing a DEPS Barisky frog, A Spro Poppin Frog, a LP or Northstar or Dirty Jigs swim jig with a Grandebass Megaclaws trailer, or a Zoom Speed Craw, and I would pitch a 3/8 and 1/2 oz Dirty Jig with a Big Paca Craw, Grandebass Megaclaws or other big trailer, into all those docks. Thats what I would do. I would have also prefished it for a week, but thats another story. If I was a coangler, all I would throw, 90% of the time behind the boater, would be a 3 or 4 inch Senko weightless and a Jig.

Steve, Where did you get the map that you posted of Lake Springfield? Maps like this would be helpful for other area lakes like Lake Sangchris, Banner Marsh, Spring Lake, etc. Thanks a lot Steve and have an excellent holiday.
