Fished a lake today near my beach house on eastern long island that was off the beaten path called fresh pond. I know the lake well, and I LOVE fishing it. Today was my toughest day there. I think its because for the past week there it has been such odd weather. One day its sunny and 100 degrees, the next its 70 and pouring. It just kept going o and off and I think that turned the fish off. Anyway, it was cloudy and about 75 degrees, and every now and then a light rain drizzle-rain would come. Got out at about 8 oclock and caught a 1.5-2 pounder within 10 minutes on a buzzbait. After that we didnt catch anything until about 930, where my dad caught another 2 pounder on a Power Team Lures Sick stick off a point in about 8 feet. Then I caught the biggest of the day, about 3.5-4 pounds (pictured below), but certainly not the biggest in there and certainly not the biggest iv'e caught out of there. That lake is full of 4-5 pounders. iv'e caught around 10 fish from there in that pound class in 2-3 years fishing there. At 2 oclock, we ended up with 5 total for around 10 or 11 pounds. Not toog god of a day, my biggest linit there was probably around 16 or 17 lbs. But i have caught tons of fish that were 3 pounds out of there. Heres two of my three fish, and my third was the size of the smaller one in the pic.

Yeah it wasnt an awful day it was just that I have done better there. For a little pressured lake though its phenominal. I like to describe it as a mini Okeechobee. Lots of grass and flipping plastics is the main way to catch um. Also like Okeechobee it holds big bass! | |
