THE BASS COLLEGE

I was supposed to spend a day on the water with my good friend

Johnnewwindsor, but the rainy day forecast left me not wanting to

uncover my boat if I didn't have to......(if you can believe that !)

I got a call from my club mate Chris "Booze" late Friday who told me to

get some summers eve and wash the sand out my vaj, as he was taking his

boat out and that I should join him....:lol::

Well, the weatherman was right for a change as it rained most of the day

and the wind blew just the same.......

Surprisingly, we had the place all to ourselves,, as we didn't spot another bass boat ALL DAY.

Air temps - 41-51

Water temps - 48-54

Wind 10-18mph NW

Water clarity - slightly stained

Depth - less than 10fow

We started off with the usual choices based on the conditions

and boated quite a few on jerkbaits while feeling our way around......

I had seen these similar conditions before and coaxed him into checking out

a midlake depression that had held concentrations of fish in the past.

The wind was blowing perfectly for them to be on the down wind side of the ditch,

even though the bottom composition didn't have the same hard bottom we were looking for initially.

Needless to say, a slow rolled spinnerbait scratching the bottom on the outside let us know we were onto

something good, the minute I landed the first good smallie...

And good it was !!

The fished were stacked in this little ditch so heavy, at times we landed 10 or more on concecutive casts..

And it was a mix of Smallmouth and those pesky Green ones !

We boated more than 50 when we called it quits, with Chris boating a real good one set up on the outside.
