I see where on some tournaments etc. you are either labeled Pro or amateur or co angler, what do you have to do or what does it take like what qualifies you as a "pro"? thanks Jeff Linker

Just making your living full time frrom Bass Fishing in one or more ways, fishing in a guide service and tournaments full time, where it is no other job, then thats a Pro to me. But do you mean are there people who can fish at a professional level that are not Pros?? Yes!!! lol, I consider somebody a Semi-Pro, somebody who works another job and that is their main focus and fishes at a high level on the weekends, etc an has a good deal of knowlege about bass and tournaments in general. But this is all relative really I think, as somebody can fish or play ball at lower levels but be the very best at that level, and really be a true Pro but cant for one reason or another, move to the next level, then they are really a Pro, so it is relative. Now, speaking on another level, I would say what makes you a PRO morally as well, is somebody who represents themselves in a true professional manner like my friend Jay Yelas, or Lance Vick, or many others, while doing any of the above things, So that is pretty much my answer for now. Welcome, glad to have you here.

Yeah In the tournaments the boater or Pro pays a LOT so he is usually at that level in some way like TOM said, lol, and the non boater or CO Angler pays less etc but it is really all in here in different sections of the forums and I should have several videos on it as well.if that is what you are asking. But even in CLUB level events usually one person only controls the boat and the decisions, so they are always the boater, but not always a PRO. LOL

Tom is right you are labeled a "Professional" by Flw if you enter an Everstart or higher level tournament by just paying the entry fee. If you enter a BFL as the boat operator your classified as a "Boater" . As far as the amatuer co-angler status you are the person that is fishing from the back deck of the boat in Flw tournaments. As a co-angler you have no say where you fish and the only time your can be in the front of the boat is to land a fish or an emegency. You can suggest fishing areas as long as they are your spots not a spot another pro has taken you to.

I was considered a "Pro" many time's. All they did was collect alot of money from me and let me run my boat! lol That is not a pro, Steve explained the rest correctly. Before the "ELITE SERIES" if you had enough money you could be a self- financed pro in the old B.A.S.S. tourny trail. A couple guy's did it in Delaware, "no names mentioned" for a couple years. You don't see them now!!
