When we lived on West 88th I would walk down to CP and see people down there at times. Was told no fishing by the NYPD.

I saw a video but dont remember where of a guy catching a bass on a buzzbait right behind him there and I know I saw Mike from NY Bass Forums there on a tv show before.

Caught this 4.5lbers on a black/blue flake ribbon tail worm


Caught this on a white war eagle finesse spinnerbait (It weigh 4lbs and 2 ozs about)

Yes you should! But the locals might bother you saying how fishing is not allowed. Which isn't true because the Park rangers and DEC will allow you as long as you have a NYS fishing license.
