Had about 35 mins to shred on my lunch break so hit a tiny little hole up round me.  Threw tiny jigs, chatterbaits, and crankbaits.  Nothing would hit.  Did see a decent fish chase my tiny jig tho as I swam it back in quickly so I switched over to my black/blue swimjig.  Got a real nice 3lber right before I left.  First bass of the season! Can't wait to get out more often!

I envy you guys that can bass fish year round. They can be a VERY hard bite through the ice here in the north and they are off limits for us from Feb 21 until mid June to protect them during the spawn. Nice fish to start off the year!

off limits? oh my god, i would break the law then.  enough bass have been caught over the years that nature finds a way even if the bass are disturbed.  i do tend to get them back into the water and stress themas little as possible

It's supposed to be in the 60's here the next too days. Too early to take my boat out, but I may hit up some local ponds for some fun. Ha, I've never had to get a license this early before.

All I can think about is bass fishing. Even when I'm not thinking about bass fishing, I'm thinking about bass fishing.

Nice catch Mike. Give me a ring to set something up for tomorrow. I was out today for a little bit . I threw a 6'' hudd , 5'' decoy swimbait, chatterbait, shallow diving crankbait and a Matt Lures Bluegill and a jig...I caught one dink out of the whole list of baits on a jig.

yeah i worked the 3.5" worm on the jig head and nothing was happening.  was reeling my bait back to recast and saw a decent bass swim up quick to shore chasing it. reworked the area, no luck.  popped on a gold/black jerkbait (sun was out and bright), no takers, surprisingly.  Switch to squarebill, still nothing. Gold blade white/chart chatter was up next as I work the same area and move along to the other side.  dead as a doornail.  coming up to my last few mins, (tied the swimjig on at this point), walk back to where i started with a nice drain and wood posts.  hitting the last few casts i have left and finally, ones on. felt absolutely no bite.  fish was just there as i was lifting the rod.  good thing it was a dirty jig cause i hooked it in the top of the mouth and didnt get a good set until well after the fish had taken it.  good first day.  upset i only got one, but only had 35 mins give or take to spare.  i'll take it.
