Lately i have been useing live bait (shiners) and have been catching decent and large bass. After awhile live bait starts to get expensive so i went out to bass pro and got a couple lures. I am barley catching any bass and am very frusterated. Can you give me some tips or tell me some lures to get? Thanks, Grant

First of all welcome. Glad to have you. There is a bit more to it than that, but the Pro Staff will get you started. Just ake a look at the video called SITE NAVIGATOR, that will make things easier for you at first. Then go to the largemouth tips and tactics section, where there will be sugesstions on this in many topics in there. You should also just start watching a few of the videos from your area here and in the main video section, that will help. Then the first thing I would do is this: Take One Of Our Faculy Of Fishing Courses here <<< click then come back after you are finishd and we will discuss whatever you have questions on from there.

Welcome to the Bass College! Definitely check out the Site Navigator first. That will teach you how to get around the site, then watch videos and read all the articles you can find, because there really isn't an exact answer for your frustrations, there is likely a combination of reasons you aren't catching them on lures.

a bait that i would recomend is a missle baits d-bomb..... great flippin and pitchin bait... set it up with a 3-5 ot hook and a 1/16th ounce bullet weight sinker... flip it into some structures such as downed trees rockstructure or docks where the bass like to chill out.. that bait in lovebug color will be the best investment ever

I agree with Justin. Don't go out and throw your money on random baits that people say will work. Until you know the right time, place and season to use them, they will be worthless. There is so much information on this site, all you have to do is look around. The best bait in the world won't help you if you aren't using the right line/technique/tackle/etc. I've seen other site that someone asks a question like this and they get answers from all over the country about what they should use to catch bass. If you don't want to waste thousands of dollars in lures/bait, read up here and buy the baits/lures that will work for you area/clarity/depth/weather.

Right thats exactly why you need to learn the seasonal patterns first, then we will work on the rest. The faculty Of Fishing courses help a lot with getting started, then we will take it to any level you like up to fishing a pro tournament trail. We can do what you want.

when i started with lures, i just covered the basics. topwater, midwater, and bottom. i got 2 lures per section. i figured that be the best way for me to cover the largest area without having the most amount of skill or as much knowledge as a pro. the lures i got were as follows: (top water) strike king mini buzzking rapala skitter pop (midwater) two rapala j7s (one black and silver, one orange and green) (bottom) berkley power worms havoc pit bosses (green pumpkin) from there, i just decided i had the basics and then i could build up my tackle box accordingly.

Welcome. Looks like these guys have already gave you some great advice. I would just like to add when starting out just keep it simple and learn one new tactic at a time. Fish it till your comfortable with it then try something new. And when you order from tackle warehouse Steve will send you some great baits, just be sure and follow the rules for getting them. Good luck on the water.
